CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

Founded in 1975, this is one of the natural treasures of Costa Rica. With a truly amazing biological diversity, Corcovado harbors a humid tropical forest, the only one left in the Mesoamerican Pacific region.

A total of 367 bird species, 104 of mammals, 117 of amphibians and reptiles and 40 species of fresh water fish live in the park. To get there is a little adventure because the boat has to stop before reaching the beach (there is no pier) and you have to jump into the water with your backpack on the head. This is good because in order to preserve this treasure, controlling the number of visitors is very important.

Inside and outside the park we find animals we have never seen before: a tapir resting, crocodiles resting in the river banks, monkeys, wild pigs and groups of red macaws eating fruits on the trees near the beach. In one day you go there, like they say in Costa Rica: please, leave your footprints only and only take your memories…
